Donald Cunningham
Donald Cunningham
1927 - 2021

Cunningham, Donald (1927 - 2021)

Peacefully in his sleep on January 9, 2021 at CHUS Fleurimont in his 94th year. Cherished husband of 65 years to “the love of his life”, Betty, and beloved father of sons Gray (Mary), David, and Andrew (Angela). Adored grandfather of Amy (Alfred), Erica (Adam), Stephanie, and Alison, who were his pride and joy. Proud great-grandfather of Teddy, Charlie, and Ellie.

Don will forever be remembered for his captivating smile, amusing stories and his ability to always find someone to talk to, even amongst strangers. A renowned sportsman in his youth, he enjoyed playing golf well in to his senior years. He was also a great coach and supporter of his boys’ interests.

Due to Covid restrictions, a funeral service will not be held at this time, with a memorial service/celebration of life to be arranged at a later date.

Donations in Don’s memory may be made to the charity of your choice.

To Mr. Cunningham's family, Maybe Andrew remembers me from little league... we used to play together in the Pee Wee league together if memory serves me right. Your dad was our coach and I can tell you that I never felt such a fatherly figure in all my life. I spent all day today remembering how he coached us with love and patience. You see... Andrew was our star pitcher and he really could strike out the other team. I remember sitting in the car with Andrew and David on a way to a game in Sherbrooke at the Champs de Mars and David telling me of how a shark had made its way all the way to lake Memphremagog... and I was all questions and inquisitive while Mr. Cunningham was laughing silently in front, driving. I do not do this very often but Andrew, David and family I wish to offer you my sincerest condolences and were I not so far away I would go to see you and grieve with you. Your father made a difference in my life and my thoughts are with you from far away. Regards, Paul Langlois   —  Paul Langlois
